Here’s a sneak preview of our masquers getting ready for the performance on 11 August. We can’t wait to see the final show!
Our performance of the Masque of Queens has been subject to unexpected demand, and tickets have all gone! We are very sorry if you missed out, but the good news is that – thanks to funding from the Malone Society – the event will be filmed by Oxford Digital Media, and a video of the performance will be made freely available online. Watch this space.
The performance will take place between 5pm and 6.30pm in New College Chapel (entrace via Holywell Street, Oxford) on 11 August 2016, and will feature period dances and music alongside a performance of a slightly adapted script.
Tickets are free, but registration is required for a guaranteed seat. Please follow this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-masque-of-queens-tickets-26441749986.
Conference registration will close at the end of the working day on 28 July. See the registration page on this website for more details. Please do sign up before then – and please do spread the word to any interested colleagues or students.
We are delighted to announce that The Masque of Queens, by Ben Jonson and Inigo Jones, will be performed on 11 August as part of the conference, in the stunning Chapel at New College, Oxford. The event will be open to the general public, and will be filmed; conference delegates will have reserved seating. The masque will be directed by Emma Whipday, and will feature historical recreations of early modern dance with period musical accompaniment.
